The top few rows of brick on the inside of the chimney were very damaged as is seldom the case. The joints were filled and a parge coat was applied to the badly damaged area. The unused chimney flues should always be capped with a stone to prevent water from constantly running down the chimney liner.

The flue devoted to the heating system was fitted with a metal liner however the cap was installed very poorly.

A stone was cut and fitted between the brick and the metal cap for a watertight fit.
The caps also protect the crown of the chimney where the bricks are fully exposed.
